So, I was reading a Wired article on the disparity of women in senior academic positions, mostly the comment thread, which is far more informative than the article which talks about a recent graduating class of eight as evidence of bias (the italicized words would be why that's dumb).

Today has taught me the difference between working and going to class.

When all I have to do is go to work, even when it's 35 hours a week (4 hrs/day at one job, 3 hrs/day at another), when I go home at night that time is mine.  There are no projects to take home, no homework to work on, no assignments I have to pay mind to that are due in a few ( Read more... )

• PeNoWriMo:  I'm at around 16,000 words and counting.  That leaves about 34,000 before the 1st or 2600 a day.  Not easy, but two days ago I wrote 2600 and yesterday I wrote 4000, so I'm on track.

PeNoWriMo last night started rather slowly. I only wrote about 600 or 700 words of the 1600 that I need to average every day in order to hit 50000 by the end of the month.
