Dec 28, 2007 22:32

Well, most of the pre-New-Year-Eve preparations are done, and I can show you a little bit of the 'cards epopee' :) At first, I didn't realize I should take pictures, and only after sending a few dozen of cards, I finally started to record the process. First cards had two mice on them, but then I thought I might not have enough time, so I painted ( Read more... )

What abundance all your mouse cards represent! How generous you are, painting each one!

I like your haiku with the half-gnawed carrot, and with the olive :-)

Your rats remind me a very good Japanese comic called "Fruits Basket". It is about a cursed family whose members are born with the spirits of the Chinese zodiac animals. When they are hugged by the opposite sex they actually turn into the animal they represent and the boy who is the rat is a very sensitive and kind young man. I dressed like him last year for the Japanese Fair because one of my best friends admires him so (it was really fun *lol*). The whole story seems silly at first, but it is actually very interesting and deals mainly with psychological matters, like self-confidence, prejudice, etc. It was a huge success in Japan and the author just finished publishing it last year, if I am not mistaken - there are 23 volumes ( ... )

Thanks for the insight into the Japanese comic characters, Angelica -- I didn't know that (as I don't know anything about Japanese comics, cartoons, anime, manga, etc.) I would nevertheless love to see your dress for the Japanese fair :) To read 23 volumes of that -- wow! I would never be able to do that :)))

Yes, the boar was painted by late Kaji Aso sensei, and it was an inspiration for my wild boar painting (you may remember it). I didn't realize that 2007 was your year -- now I can see it really was! What Japanese artist are you talking about? May I see the works, web siet, or something? I don't remember your telling about this before -- but I could be just forgetful...

I wish too -- and you can certainly send me your address now if you wish, so that I could mail a rat to you! :)

I saw you may not visit LJ tomorrow -- so I am wishing you a very Happy New Year now, dear Angelica! :)

If by any chance you are here on the New Year's Eve -- than it even be better! (wink :)))

I received your card yesterday! Thank you so much, it's beautiful. You've obviously put an enormous amount of work into these - my sincere compliments. My haiku was the "mouse rolling an olive" one. Your sum-i rats/mice are really lovely. Are you tired of them now, or do you feel you've really mastered them now? ;)

I'm trying to frame all the cards I receive this year, and eventually have an entire wall of haiku. I wish more of the participants would put their image and haiku on the same side of the card, as you have - it displays so much more nicely. Can't wait to frame yours! =)))

Happy New Year and Akemshite Omedetou Gozaimasu!

I am glad you like the card, Laura! (I don't remember if I told you about the card I received from you? You did a great job designing it!) Well, not that I was not tired -- I was... yet it was a lot of fun, and a very interesting experience, and a challenge! I like challenge, always did :) I made 187 cards this year!

Do you mean to frame each card separately? Mamma mia! Good luck to you! :)))) I would like to see it when it's done -- I hope you show those framed cards in your LJ?

Arigatou -- see you on the New Year's Eve! :)

187?? There were about 60 participants in the card exchange I participated in - where did all your other cards go?

He-he, Laura -- I am an old woman with a lot of life baggage :)))))))) Through the years, I have been accumulating relationships and connections which I like to keep, and relatives and friends who enrich my life...

I have three extended families: my Russian family in Russia, my own American family, and now my new family through Sasha's marriage. Those people also send me cards-n-stuff :) And after 5 years of writing and sharing haiku, I have found many wonderful people in many countries with whom I made friendly connections too! :)

Normally, I correspond with approx. 50 people on a regular basis -- but on holidays it comes up to a hundred plus greeting cards... And this year, the haiku group you and I joined, added 60 cards more to the bunch :)

I now cut participation in most of my online groups -- I used to participate in 30 groups at the same time! Always struggle with the conflict between my desires, and my physical abilities, -- as you do too, probably ... oh well :)
