organizing makeup?

I live in a pretty small apartment, so I don't have any sort of vanity and the sink in the bathroom has no surface space, just the bowl. The mirror over the sink is enough to hold the basic skincare and hair stuff, but I keep the makeup I use on top of my dresser. Is there any good way to organize it? A friend of mine uses a collection of glasses for everything -- martini, wine, tumblers. Fun stuff that she picks up at thrift stores. Different heights and sizes for different things. And I think she also has a little tabletop 3-drawer organizer for lipsticks and bigger things that won't fit in a glass.

And I *always* find caboodles at Goodwill and the Salvation Army when I go, and grab them up because they're so good for everything!

I would check Big Lots for the caboodle-type things. They tend to carry some of that stuff!

If you feel like splurging, get a mini train case! I ADORE those things, but I won't spend the money!

I actually use a silverware organizer tray - a metal "braided" type design, not rubber or plastic. I LOVE it! Its lengthy compartments are perfect for lipliners and such, with the bottom part being wide enough for powder and what not. On top of the counter, for the few things I use everyday, I have a wooden "drawer organizer" I bought for $7 at Target. It's long and nice wood, very pretty. I actually bought two of those and use the other one for a nice condiment caddy out on the coffee table. Love it!

I must have forgotten to close a tag or something 'cause my last comment only showed half of what I wrote. Oh well.... here we go again!

I agree that you should keep your daily items out in the open and put the more occasional items elsewhere. My idea would be to get a vanity tray for the top of your dresser to hold your daily use items. This one caught my eye as a reasonable priced option. It's a nice large size too so that it could hold everything you need in sight and reace. You can even find vanity trays at places like Wal-greens if I'm not mistaken. :)

I thought it was amazing too... and not very expensive either! As soon as I found it, I began hoping my current one would break! lol!
