....and I still haven't been able to make it up to the Japanese Garden in Portland. There is an absolutely gorgous lace leaf maple up there that I have been dying to shoot. It really peaked in color last weekend and I cannot make it this weekend. I hope there are leaves on it by mid next week as I may be able to take a day off to go play in the ( Read more... )

Wow I love these pictures...that's one thing I do miss about Oregon...so much color and landscapes with no one around...so pretty.
I have been to that Japanese Garden! I had no idea it was the same one...;)
I went there with my mom, sister and grandma. It was so beautiful. They have really pretty kites hanging in some of the pagoda type buildings. We had tea there too...I had jasmine tea and red bean paste pastries...SO GOOD.
I do hope you get there soon, it was gorgeous...

Thank you! :-)
I just hope I can get up there before the rain knocks all the leaves off the trees. I think we're having an extra fall color season and cannot wait to see that place in full color.

If you get a chance, check out the Japanese garden in Golden Gate Park. It's quite lovely. I've heard that Portland's is better and more authentic, but I still LOVE the one down there in SF.

Plan to make it a day! There's a great zoo and an aquarium nearby.
It's a really cool place. There's even a buffalo paddock out there and if you watch closely, you may spot a fox back in the woods.

Yeah, the only fox I've ever seen outside of a zoo and it had to be within the city limits of San Francisco. :-)

This has been a really good fall, as far as color goes - I think probably because we haven't had hardly any rain.

I'd heard somewhere that we were going to get snow this year but the global warming thing is starting to make me worry. I might have to move north!

I agree. I drive home at lunch each day, even if I don't eat. I just love passing by campus and all the old maple and walnut trees. The colors are stunning!

Keep thinking *snow*! We're due for a big blizzard storm and I really want it soon. (It has been a while since we've really had a good snow.)

I really like driving on 53rd/Walnut, and 9th street south of the Benton Center. It's really pretty in fall. Jefferson is nice too, with all those huge trees on both sides.

Oh, and if willpower alone can make it snow, it would be snowing by now!

I hate the time switch, I need my sunlight! Especially in the morning. I leave my house at 6am to go to work and it's so freakin dark. Just give me warmth and sunlight and I'm good :P

I know. I hate leaving my daughter at her school each morning in the cold darkness. I also really dislike not having the sun each evening. When it's dark, I just want to curl up and sleep. It makes it hard to get any work done!

I love the cold darkness! It makes me feel so cozy, all winter long. Then again, I don't get SAD, so I'm good.
