The person I studied for the GAMSAT with today found out she got into med school at the University of Notre Dame. Our scores were similar, but instead of deciding to pay the 100$ "interview fee", I decided they weren't good enough to get me into the course and went on to start my Ph.D ( Read more... )

Makes me slightly sad for you Pete, but no matter what you do, you are still a legend and will make a difference to peoples lifes. Well I think so.

I think its worth pointing out that the kind of career you're interested in (or myself for that matter) really doesn't need to finish at 65. I don't think I'll ever truly quit, anyway; probably just move into academia, or administration, or regulation or somesuch. At least, its not the kind of field where 25 years' work renders you physically unable to participate further.

Stop being an idiot. You're not only doing what you wanted to do but you can still do the MD if you want to when you've finished. And why is 4th year psych now completely ruled out as well? And stop making decisions based on what you think someone else wants because what they want is for you to be happy.
