scary movies and memories

We just watched A Quiet Place which I actually enjoyed. It was about my level of scary, all about the tension and suspense but at a PG-13 kind of way. It felt like a missing chapter of the Cloverfield story, but maybe that was the the creature design. It was a TENSE 90 minutes.

I don't really remember what the first one I saw was. My parents weren't very good (well depending on how you looked at it) from keeping us from seeing not "age appropriate" stuff (they took me along to see Platoon when I was six.) I think they ended up keeping me from watching most horror movies because they freaked me out so badly! I'd always say "I can handle it" but once I actually watched them I would have trouble going to sleep, especially with slasher movies! I remember vaguely being there when they watched The Shining and freaking out at the shot of Jack frozen at the end. I was five or. six and didn't know people could freeze to death. The basic concept for 'Nightmare on Elm Street' was enough to freak me out and I have never seen it. I don't think I could handle it even now!

I always knew I scared easily and I tended to avoid scary movies because I didn't want to lie in bed terrified (because I had my pride and was NOT going to go bother my parents after swearing I would not be scared after watching whatever movie).

I think I'll wait until A quiet Place comes out on DVD ... not sure I'd enjoy it at the cinema.

Halloween 2. Was not prepared. Will NEVER forget certain scenes. And that we were eating little Ceasar's. I have not eaten Ceasar's pizza since, lol!

I'm a horror person in general, but I really loved A Quiet Place. I tend to wait on horror movies till they hit dvd, but I'm glad I saw this one in theatres. I felt like a movie that was almost completely silent would a rare theatre experience and it was ( ... )
