Rifftrax Live: Sharknado

Yes, last night we saw Rifftrax Live: Sharknado and it was HILARIOUS! After a hectic day at work (not even gonna go into it) I needed to laugh and just forget the entire world and this totally did the trick. I was cracking up as soon as we sat down in the theater with the preshow "trivia":

Rich and I have been to the last 3 or 4, I think - we went to Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and Halloween's, and one before that, too. We just did Sharknado. I'm on the fence about Godzilla though - not sure if I want to pay $30 for that. (but I think it's his turn next since I bought Sharknado, so we'll see ...)

When there were long breaks between Rifftrax specials, it was easier to decide, but if they start doing one every month, I can't really afford that! Will probably pass on Godzilla and Anaconda for that very reason. Gotta save up for my SanFran trip!

I don't really see Bing used in movies, but it's sure used a lot in TV shows. To be honest, I'd rather have product placement in TV shows to make up for the lost TV ad revenues from people DLing shows than have producers hunt down DL sites.

I'd never heard of Rifftrax before but I am definitely intrigued! I absolutely sat through Sharknado though - twice. I'm addicted to really bad Syfy shark movies, disaster movies, creature features... you name it.

Did you ever watch MST3K? It's the same guys. I loved that show when I was a kid and they still crack me up now. If you have Hulu Plus, you can watch some of the Rifftrax stuff on there, I love the old 1930s short "educational" films LOL.

Wow, they do this as a live screening at the cinema? That sounds awesome! I'd love to go see something like that.

It's a big special event for them. Mostly they sell the mp3s on their site, but once in awhile they do live broadcasts out of Minnesota and pick a movie they can get the rights to. Kickstarter has made this easier for them because they have been asking fans to help donate to help with the licensing costs. But you can get the mp3s from their website and just sync them up with your own DVDs. They are only like $3 for some of the Riffs.

One of my personal favorites is the Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull riff. OMG only way I would ever watch that movie again. The Harry Potter ones are pretty good too, as are the Star Wars prequels because...well they had it coming!

Mike made me watch "Sharknado" recently. He had watched it with his stepdad, and like a lot of people they thought it was horrible, but hilarious. Unfortunately, I found it more horrible than hilarious. I cringed a lot. But I did think it would be perfect for the Rifftrax guys, so I'm glad they're doing it.

Mike and I tried to see the "Starship Troopers" one they did recently. But we just missed it by a day.
