FINALLY! I know you've all been waiting (or maybe not) for the track list for this year's mix. Remember, you're supposed to listen through at least ONCE without peeking at the list. :)
I <3 the Much Ado about Nothing soundtrack so hard. I was so happy to hear both of those on the cd. Particularly Sigh No More is a song I've been obsessed with for some time. I need to get around to buying that movie. So solid. So Joss. <3
Thanks again for sending me one of these. I really really love it.
ETA: Forgot earlier that if Disney does an animated version of Wicked I will throw a fit. Live action with Idena/Kristin yes. Animated? Absolutely not.
Yay, I'm glad you liked it! I always have so much fun making it.
I only say animated because Idina and Kristin are not spring chickens anymore and I feel like you an get away with them aging on stage because the audience is far away, but animation would let them do the voices and be the characters. I'd still want them doing the voices and singing! (and I hope a Disney exec is reading this right now!!!)
They both look pretty damn good if you ask me. Idina in particular would be wearing so much makeup that I think she could play the roll for a few more years in an on screen format. Kristin is a bit more iffy, but she's tiny and that help.
I feel like it's (for all it is based off a kids movie) a rather adult story and not well suited to disney brand animation. However, if it was a Pixar project I would be less upset. I haven't been super impressed with the last few disney movies (I know, I'm the only person in the world who didn't fall in love with Frozen) but Pixar has a bit more "credit" in the bank with me for producing watchable-as-an-adult movies. I know they're technically the same company but they produce very different sort of products.
oh you are right in saying that Pixar and Disney are two separate creatures because they are! Tangled and Frozen are both credited with being as good as they are because they had the Pixar "brain trust" look at the scripts (seriously, that term is in the thank you of the credits) so I think it's fair to not lump them together. I remember right before Cars 2 came out, there were rumblings that Pixar might attempt to break from Disney because this was their final film they were under contract for. Didn't happen, obviously, though I wonder if that is because John Lassiter has been on a crusade to revive Disney since before Frog Princess...
Let it Go is probably my favourite song right now. I've been listening to it constantly since I saw the movie. Oh, and I so need to see Wicked, I absolutely love Defying Gravity and have heard nothing but amazing things about the stage show.
Thanks! I put way too much thought into these and in my mind it all flows/makes sense so I'm happy to hear that it works haha.
I'm REALLY happy with how Paramore is progressing. I hope they can stay on this track for awhile, willing to play around within their genre. I love when Hayley does guest vocals on stuff, like the Loretta Lynn cover she did awhile ago. She's got such a great voice. I've seen them a few times in concert and they never disappoint me.
And now several light bulbs are going on over my head. Thank you!! And thanks for the music, too--this is extremely fun, and fun to guess what the tracks were, too.
Specifically, Bruno Mars, Tegan & Sarah, Frozen, and Ed Sheeran--the last one was the one where I said something like, "Well this sounds like that one guy, but then again maybe it doesn't, and I like it but I'm confused. . ." The "one guy" being Jason Mraz.
I love my CD! I recognized a few of the artists--mostly Paramore and Bruno Mars--but I was so proud of myself! (One of my favorite things is to try to figure out who the songs are.) I thought that first Panic song was Cobra Starship, though.
I was curious about the Catching Fire soundtrack, so I might pick it up now. ^_^
