I use Body Force Super Advanced Whey Protein powder drink mix. Ridiculous name. But the chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, and cookies and cream are quite tolerable. I mix it in almond milk. I have an immersion blender, so no lumps (though, when traveling, I'll just tolerate the lumps and treat the drink as something not to be tasted).
The advantage of the mix is it also has fiber, which I can always use more of.
al_zorra, I use whey protein because I have to be careful about how much soy I consume (too much makes me break out painfully). I'm vegetarian, and don't digest eggs effectively, so I'm always on the lookout for safe-for-me protein.
The New Rules of Lifting book has a pancake recipe that involves protein powder, if I'm remembering correctly. I've used that recipe as a pre-workout meal many times

Peanutbutter balls! Oh, I miss them! (We used karo syrup, not honey, but I like your idea here and might have to try it out someday. As I agree that putting it into oatmeal sucks.
