RENAISSANCE PORTRAITS

Anyone have colour versions and/or bigger versions of these? They're all from the book "Abbigliamento e costume nella pittura italiana": Rinascimento", by Carlo Bestetti (1962).

I ***so*** want to see a color copy of
Details from Moretto's "Alta società in giardino", Lord Palmerston's collection, London

I had that set of books checked out for ever while I was at the University of Tennessee. Some lovely stuff in there -- unfortunately, it's all in B/W. My scans may be larger than what you have here, but they were scanned from the same book, so I doubt that they'd help you much.

I agree! I've searched for it online, in basically every language I know, and I just can't find that Moretto painting anywhere. First, the dresses depicted are gorgeous. Second, the painting itself looks wonderful. I would give so much to see it in colours.

I've rented the book from the University of Oslo (where I'm currently studying), so I'm set with B/W versions. But thanks a lot! BTW - did you check out the similar book about Baroque garbs? I saw they had it too, but I didn't get a chance to look in it. I wonder if it's worth checking out. Lots of chemises showing in Italian Baroque paintings...

I didn't. I wish I had now. I've taken a fancy to those Elizabethan Embroidered Jackets -- and I'd like to see if there's a paralell in Italian fashion.

Hmmm... I'll check it out and try and post some photos here, then.
