I don't have to go to work today - school's closed for Thanksgiving break. I hope everyone has a great T-day holiday, or in Ruth's case, a nice sit-in at Warwick!

The international day of climate action, 350 day is here! Our event in NH starts at 10 a.m. Many wonderful and amazing events all over the world already - Indian, the Maldives, Australia... ours will be humble but still our voice will be part of the whole.

I'm enjoying a week-long visit from my older (24) daughter, who has been living and working in Philadelphia for a few years now. It is so great to just sit on the couch and talk for several hours at a time. We can basically catch up on all the important things this way. Saw the Food, Inc. film last night. Very powerful - although I knew a lot of the content from reading Omnivore's Dilemma and other stuff, the film is much more effective as a way to get the information out to lots of people. Who reads books anymore?

I'm having a pretty good summer! It's been unusually rainy but the last two weeks we've had more sun. I'm working at the school, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m., doing a mixture of interesting school psych things... what a great way to earn some money ( Read more... )

At last, the Obama Admin will be official. I can't wait to watch the Inauguration. I read today that he is going to work to get rid of Don't Ask Don't Tell in the armed forces... while he's made some mistakes already (e.g. Rick Warren) all in all, things are going to improve on many fronts, I think.

I am spending NYE alone at home by choice... this is my usual activity and today there's a lot of snow making travel difficult anyway ( Read more... )

No need to dream, it's a white, white Christmas whether we want it or not... more than a foot of the white stuff fell in the last 24.
Not really complaining... I still have electricity this time!

Last Thursday NH (and MA, ME, VT, and NY) was hit by a massive ice storm that left the trees beautifully coated with ice and lots of them fallen over onto roads, houses, and powerlines.
