This is oddly sympathetic towards Hank. It actually makes me feel a little sorry for the guy. I'm sure he seemed so nice in Nightmares and When She Was Bad.
He seemed like such a good dad in "The Weight of the World" and "Normal Again", too, and granted, that last one was a hallucination, but he'd generally been so caring and on good terms with Buffy before Joyce's illness that I'm convinced that his deadbeat dad asshattery had something to do with the Dawn re-write that the monks did. It just doesn't make sense to me otherwise.
