Dominic's physical

Apr 29, 2011 02:57

Dominic had his annual physical with the doctor today. Our doctor is excellent--love her. Anyway, the first office we went into we could barely breathe. There was an earlier patient in there wearing waaay too much perfume. The doctor said that patient always comes in like that and they have to air out the office every time she leaves. Gross. As long as the lenses are the same shape, there shouldn't be an issue replacing them and keeping the frames - when edmcbride broke his frames down here on a visit, we grabbed new frames for his existing lenses, so I assume they can put new lenses in old frames.

Thanks so much for your comments. I'm not sure that Dominic is mature enough to handle the responsibility of contacts, but we'll talk about it at the doctor's.

The problem with summer camps aside from the cost is that Dominic spends a lot of the summer with his dad (most of the time watching TV and playing video games) and so I can't really schedule him for anything during that time. Some summers my mom has paid for him to go to camp for 2 weeks in New Hampshire, but that's only 2 weeks out of the year that he's active. I wish he would find something like volleyball or tennis or something that he'd get involved with. He's just not got that athletic mentality. Any ideas on how to change his mindset?

You can practically always put new lenses in old frames. The lenses start out round, and have to be shaped to fit no matter what frame you're using, so reusing frames does not even require any extra work.

That's good to know. I don't really know anything about glasses, having never needed them.

I just want to tell you something: I've been reading your LJ now for almost 11 years, so I've followed you since Dominic was a little kid. And I am still so, so impressed with your parenting. You're a really good and caring parent, Opal.
