I wanna start a bitching thread. So we can bitch about whatever we want.
Provide your woeiest of woes.
Please only respond to things you agree with the bitching of, or to offer consolation.

To start it off,
I HATE FEELING LIKE AN ABSOLUTE BITCH FOR NOT LIKING ROBIN/CHOPPER AFTER THAT EPIC ARGUMENT! Every time someone asks what pairings I don't want I hesitate... cause they dynamic really doesn't interest me, and I'm allowed right, but each time I state that I feel like I'm gonna be judged as one of the people who was in the thick of that fight...

add your bitchings, and we'll have a party!

Same anon as above, and actually, since this is kind of a friendly bitching thread (well, I hope it is, it seems friendly enough to me so far), I want to take opportunity to comment on this one at more length.

It seems a problem that I have an otp in common with someone some people have issues with. I don't know if people seriously feel that I shouldn't ask for that pair since they are so many requests that include them already, but the things that I want to see most are different to what the other anon is asking for, and that requester usually lists other accepted pairings in the same prompts.

I'm also no longer sure now if people don't answer those requests because it's a rare pair that it's hard to tempt people to write anyway, or because of their beef with the other person. It seems a bit unfair so I'd like to know what people think about this.

omg angst. I didn't mean to angst, this just seemed a good chance to mention it. I'm, like, not angsty or anything.

(another anon) If it's the pairing I think it is (LuRo?), then I have filled at least one request for it. But because of the epic beef I now have with the "other person", the mere sight of the pairing name, along with RoCho and LuRoCho, makes me feel annoyed and angry, so inspiration never really strikes anymore, especially since I'm not a fan of the pairing to begin with. It's really sad that one anon's behavior should cause problems for innocent anons, and I wish I could get inspired to write the pairing again, but I've become completely blocked when it comes to those three pairings.

I wasn't really trying to hide the fact that it was LuRo, I'd mentioned them already in the previous comment, so it was just circumstantial that they weren't mentioned by name in the one you're directly replying to.

I kind of had a phase of not wanting to write character B (none of the obvious ones or those mentioned so far, actually) because an anon who I knew requested character B often had blahblahblah-ancient-history-now, but I've decided I'm just not doing that because it makes my head ache and I'd honestly rather just write the prompts that inspire me and ignore the baggage. Because I'm self-centred anyway and the writing is fun for me.

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it, I was kinda feeling talkative this morning and this seemed a nice amenable airing-stuff thread but now I feel like I kind of silenced it with my angst. :/

I haven't really made a choice not to write those pairings, though. I don't like them to begin with, but as a writer I enjoy a challenge every now and then, and writing a pairing I don't personally like can be fun when I get inspired enough by a prompt. But now those three pairings provide no inspiration for me whatsoever, just annoyance and anger because I instantly start thinking about that other anon. If I could stop I would, because these feelings are kinda ruining the entire meme for me. But this is my personal problem and not something anyone else should think about.

I don't think you're responsible for the lack of new comments. Not many people come here, after all. People are probably doing other things at the moment.

All I can say is...
I <3 Robin! Its just a few really unnecessary comments at the end of requests that give the meme the hating feeling, so I second this person's bitch.

What are these "unnecessary comments"? Is it the "No Robin, please" or "Any paring except A/B or C/Robin" ones, or is there something more vicious along the lines of "No Zoro, he's such a stick in the mud" that I've missed.

Oh no, jeez, sorry didn't mean to give that impression, meant like when people at the end of a request say something like "Character A can be paired with his/her hand, because he/she sucks" that are unnecessary comments... and personally, I think they aren't very prevalent at the moment, but sometimes you can get self conscious about a character just from a few very subtle things.
Believe me, I've asked for none of certain characters before, that ain't the unnecessary bit.

PS, am I the only one on the planet that thought it was hilarious that that one post asked for ANY YAOI PAIRING! so you thought it was gonna be an open post and then transitioned immediately into EXCEPT FOR ZORO AND SANJI THEY CAN BE PAIRED WITH THEIR HANDS! which comes across as rather vicious to me...
So, er, maybe you shouldn't have said ANY yaoi pairing... if you know, you didn't want ANY yaoi pairing...

Ah. I hate those kinds of comments. They also make me not want to fill the request in question.

That request annoyed me. Because really, if we exclude Chopper, who apparently is supposed to get naked with the girls, there's nine pairings that are off limits, and that's only counting the different Sanji and Zoro pairings in the Strawhat crew. How is that ANY yaoi pairing?

Yes. I feel bad for bashing it behind that persons back (did I just say that like I was in middle school?), but seriously, um, I hope they were joking around... in a rather bashing sorta way... in prompt form... shit...

LOL. This actually makes me feel a bit less like everyone hates me for being one of the anons on here who'll write RoCho, so thanks. I don't mind people saying they don't want them when questioned, I guess? But then I don't tend to write them in out of the blue, not unless they're directly requested or it's random orgy fic or something.

Now I feel like a boring person, but someone just made the Luffyko request that broke my back. Yes, I am a camel. Could people maybe wait a while and put some more space between the Luffyko requests? To me it became old hat after the first two requests, so this is just starting to feel silly.

Or just make a "Luffyko having sex with anyone you like! Multiple answers encouraged!" prompt?

Reply

anonymous April 16 2009, 19:36:04 UTC
Uh, could it maybe not be treated as a reflection on the rest of us? Please?

Because I already can't request my otp and I don't wanna lose my new favourite thing as well.

The other part is this may be a one-time thing and the genderswapping Luffyfen sort of want to seize the moment, you know? So while we are trying to space the prompts out somewhat, wait too long and lose the wave of fandom enthusiasm... And dammit, I'm writing like a fiend. ;_;

Sorry. I just really had to vent. But I know how you feel, I can't request either my favorite character or my OTP anymore. Which can be why this annoys me, because everyone is going "Wheeee, fun!" when the meme gets spammed with the latest thing, but it's horrible and bad when constantly popular things get requested too often. But go ahead and request Luffyko, I'm guessing I'm the only one who feel this way.
