Damn, the call comes and where am I? Packing to go to France tomorrow...I would send you tracks if I had the time, so instead I will taunt you with possiblities.

There's nothing I can suggest that you don't know already, but for a wide-ranging coast-to-coast selection, I'd start with 'Letter From An Occupant' (NP's) 'Cereal For Dinner' (McEnroe) 'I'll Give You A Ring' (The Novaks) 'Turntables In The Bayou' (No Luck Club) and possibly my favourite live recording of all time, Justin Rutledge singing 'Don't Be So Mean Jellybean' on a chair in the famous Cameron House in downtown Toronto.

Have a lot of fun!

you are much better off packing for france and maybe getting a week of real summer than hanging out in this crap!

whenever i think of the new pornographers i have a sort of instant word association/flashback with the year i asked for fubar for christmas and my mother thinking it was a porn because of a mention on the case of them contributing to the soundtrack.

it's too bad [not actually too bad, just too bad for me] you are leaving for france tomorrow. you will probably have the best recommendations. i will try and track these songs down [any suggestions of good sites/programs is very much welcome!!]. i think you are pretty much an honourary canuck year round.

have a lot of fun in france! enjoy the sunshine for me please.

Thank you...I'd suggest doing a trawl of myspace actually...you might be pleasantly surprised what can be (legally) downloaded from the player there (I got Justin Rutledge there) and if you happen to know any tech-heads i understand there's a way to get stuff off New Music Canada too on the CBC Radio 3 site, although I've never managed it.

Yes, have a great Canada day, and keep the fingers crossed we survive the camping trip!

i always forget about myspace. i tend to get annoyed with the music on there interrupting what i'm actually listening to and close the tab completely. maybe i will give it a second chance. the nmc thing sounds like a task for pineau. i will hunt him down on msn.

with cbcradio3... there is a playlist mode. i haven't had time to play with this because my internet at home is pretty much non-existent and i am sometime somewhat busy while at work... can i add songs to a playlist and keep them there for future reference? because that could be sort of ideal. if you know, share the knowledge!

you will survive camping! you and the boys will have an amazing time i am sure of it. ne laissez pas les jeunes filles de la france charmer vos garcons trop [too much?] my french is failing.

Hmmm... these suggestions are pretty random.... but how about... some Joel Plaskett Emergency (True Patriot Love, Love this Town,), The Weakerthans (One Great City, Wellington Wednesdays), The Bicycles (2 Girls from Montreal), Malajube (Montreal -40*C), Chromeo (Fancy Footwork), HiLoTrons with some Wolf Parade, Stars and Tegan and Sara mixed in?

i like your thinking jennie.

true patriot love is definitely #1 on my list. that was the basis for my 'canada day tshirt' years ago. i only realized wolf parade were canadian like 2 weeks ago. for some reason i always thought they were from nyc. it made me a little bit [a lot] happy when i realized they were from bc/quebec.

o canada. you make me proud.

You could also add in some Sloan too and bring it all back to grade nine and ten.
