Death comes in threes...

Mar 04, 2010 23:44

I guess everyone has probably heard that old saying, that death comes in threes, right? Has anyone ever experienced this, in one way or another? I thought I'd just share my story about it.

It really is quite true... )

I have. When I was eight years old, my grandfather died at 49 of a sudden, massive heartattack. It was a Wednesday. The following week, my great grandmother (the deceased grandfather's mother) passed away - Wednesday, almost to the exact minute. The following Wednesday, my dog was put to sleep. (I know you said threes, but I guess this is a four point thing .. bear with me, I'm very tired) The following Wednesday, my cat was hit by a car. Needless to say, the following Wednesday, I hid in the pantry and said I was never coming out, because everything dies on Wednesdays.

I think I'd hide in a pantry too! Thats a lot to deal with when you're eight years old!

I've worked in long term care for several years and have found this to be true. If one person dies, two more follow within weeks if not days.

I worked as a Nurse's Aide in a nursing home for the year I took off between college and grad school. About a week after I started there, a resident died and the nurses and everyone all were saying things like "I wonder who the other two will be." I don't put much interest in the paranormal beyond idle curiosity and thought they were all being very callous toward the situation. Like you said, by the end of the month, two more residents died. For the rest of the year, without fail, death came in threes.

My cousin died almost exactly a year ago, and I'm really nervous because of this very pattern.

It hasn't happened to me personally because I never heard that until my boyfriend told me a few years ago.

But since then I've been noticing that celebrities have been dying in threes. D:

Also recently, my brother-in-law's brother and two friends all committed suicide within a month...

I've always heard threes and sevens... and it's pretty much always held true. I'm a nurse practitioner now but I used to work in a hospital as a nurse, and we used to notice that pattern all the time.

I used to creep the other nurses & docs out because I would see things in the rooms of people who were about to die (reapers? angels? who knows... just tall dark shapes) but that's another story entirely.

My sister works at a hospital and deals with mostly elderly people, so she also has to work closely with the nursing homes in the area. It seems like if one elderly person at the home dies, two more quickly follow. Same for the hospital.
