The awkward question of who will direct Star Trek XIII if JJ can't

Mar 15, 2013 19:56

TrekMovie has an article about Bryan Singer, who says he'd be quite happy if he could do XIII. There is also a link at the end to a EW article about other potential directors, and it's a pretty good list!

Interesting list, but completely moot at the moment. I'd say let the movie bleeding premiere first, then we can start spliting hairs about future directors. ;)

PS- In my personal opinion it's waaaaay too early to start worrying/thinking about STXIII.

Hm, I like what JJ's been doing with Star Trek so I'd be sad to see him leave. In this list Edgar Wright is the director I'm most familiar with and I do really love his work. Hot Fuzz is one of my favorite movies ever. And maybe we can get Nick Frost as Harry Mudd (not as the main villain tho.) But I never would have thought of him directing a Star Trek movie. It could be really fun like The Voyage Home.

I've heard good things about Moon but tbh I only know about Duncan Jones because he's directing the World of Warcraft movie oops.

Fuck no at a Nolan being any way involved in this, if he's anything like his brother.

I adore Bryan Singer (he directed my favorite movie of all time, The Usual Suspects), so he's okay to pick up ST in my book. I second Edgar Wright as well - Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are great. But I'd be happy if JJ came back from Tatooine to do some more Trek.

I'm pretty uncomfy with all the directors on this prospective list. :/ JJ's what got me hooked on Trek in the first place, so I'd be crushed to see him leave. Good news is, the cast and crew seems loyal to JJ, and they made some pretty emphatic statements about having him back when asked about directors for STXIII. Idek if that has much of an impact in the long run though.

Bryan Singer. Just...no. I'm more than willing to wait for a 2016/2017 release if that means we get JJ.

Oooh Bryan Singer would definitely ramp up the comedic and action element, X-Men is such a ride :)

Basically as long as Michael of the Transformers movies doesn't put his explosive-trigger happy hands anywhere near Trek, I'm good :P
