A bit OT, but...takarai_karinFebruary 19 2014, 14:58:28 UTC
Can I ask something kinda stupid (you guys are the only ones I can ask)
When athletes like Yuzuru would be mentioned by the press as 'moving' to somewhere else to train, does that mean 'moving', moving, or just traveling there and staying for a few months before the season starts? I know Yuzu's training in Toronto with Orser, but Japanese TV can be very vague about whether he really lives there now (does he?) or not. (I know he takes his university courses online, though).
Additionally, if their coach is in a different country than theirs, how many months per year do they usually spend in their coach's base, how many months before the season starts, etc.
PS: DID YOU GUYS KNOW YUZU'S BOWLCUT WAS APPARENTLY HIS ATTEMPT AT COPYING PLUSHY'S HAIR? (I just learned that, that's precious...) PPS: oh and if you're wondering what a drunk Dai-chan is like, here's our sentimental favorite princess talking about him (it's subtitled in English, btw):
It varies for every skater. I think for Yuzuru, he does live in Toronto...but I imagine before like Japanese Nationals or something, he might spend a few weeks in Japan, and then in the off-season after Worlds, he might spend the first half of summer living with his family and just traveling around Japan doing shows. But most of the season he would be living in Toronto.
Definitely by July they'd be at their training base. Tours usually end in mid-June.
On the other hand, skaters in Morozov's group just travel around in a gypsy camp at different rinks in US and Europe, their base is like Novogorsk and Hackensack but they're rarely at one place more more than 2 weeks I guess lol.
Ah, so from July until the season starts he'll already be in Toronto, and then he'll travel everywhere for competitions, and then do exhibitions maybe, and probably spends spring until summer with his family, before then going back to Orser's base come June/July?
that's my best guess and probably in May/June he'll go visit a choreographer(s) for a week or two...although they're all Toronto-based, so I guess he's probably there at some point in the early summer too
