I am so confuse by the new GP assignment rules, would he be eligible for one because he's not on the season's best list? Or could he still get Skate America?
I thought you had to have had a world or plympic medal in your last season to qualify as a comeback skater? Otherwise everyone could just take a season off and be guaranteed 2 GPs. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ISU WHY ARE YOU SO CONFUSING?
wait the 'Evgeny' may not even be Plushenko, but who else would tell him that and is named 'Evgeny', but why would Phil Hersh just random add that thought w/o even an explanation, what what what
because IDK, I tend to have a one track mind when it comes to Plushenchrist and I just wanted to check myself. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure it's Plushenko tho. Which is lolzy omg. RANDOM PLUSHY REFERENCE!
Also, this is giving me a mental image of Plushy cornering JWeir in a corner and going 'YOU WILL SKATE IN COMPETITIONS NEXT SEASON, DA?' lmfao
He can compete at B in Canada in August to get scores he needs, I think it is 2/3 from scores of Chan from GPF. So after that he can be put on a replacement list for GP. His time with 27 years in competitive sport in US is over. U.S. has enough joung promissing skaters and will promote them. But maybe he will compete for an other country. That's another thing.
He needs 2/3 of the highest TES of the season, so that's Chan's SP at Worlds (34.32) and Kozuka's LP (65.69).
They're both pretty tough. Ex. Jeremy's FS TES: 67.15 (NHK), 64.26 (CoR), 71.70 (4CC) & Joubert's SP TES: 37.79 (CoC), 30.84 (TEB), 34.94 (Euros), and 34.37 (Worlds). So they both barely qualify even though they've been competing all season. It's worrisome.
I love that Evgeni is bugging him to come back. Cute!
I would love to see him come back, tbh. I just worry that potential lack of focus on his part and likely lack of support from the USFSA would hurt him. Would he have to go back and do regionals and sectionals? Or would they let him go right to GP? Could he just go to Nationals/Worlds?
Skaters can earn the right at the U.S. Championships without qualifying through a sectional championship by
-placing first through fifth in each discipline at the previous national championships on the senior level -winning a medal at the immediately previous World Championships -winning a medal at the immediately previous Olympic Winter Games -qualifying for the Junior or the Senior Grand Prix Final. A skater competing in two disciplines will receive a bye only in the discipline in which he or she qualified to the Junior or Senior Grand Prix Final.
He doesn't qualify through these criteria so he'd have to do regionals & sectionals.
Yeah I guess so. I mean he'd in all likelyhood qualify really easily, but it's quite a lot of extra competing, especially as he'd have to fit in a Senior B competition before the GP series as well if he wanted a GP assignment.
He I mean Weir must do regionals and sectionals to qualify for Nats. For GP he must compete at B before GP and get there 2/3 from 259.75 of Chan to qualify for GP. His time in the U.S. has already passed.

These cuts make me angry because they're paying the top 6 10k to take another event. So they're probably losing money to cut more skaters. :/
