Ugh just make it somewhere else, later. Yes, I know it's expensieve, but come on. I don't see how it's going to work in Japan now.

It's good they are keeping us all updated, at least! I'd hate to be a skater over there now, just sort of hanging out amid so much disaster and wondering what the hell is happening. Or one sitting at home wondering how they'll get to Japan. Such a mess, but of course Japan has much larger things to worry about. I think, if it can go on as planned, it might be a nice boost to visibility and morale, since skating is so popular there and so many top Japanese skaters would possibly medal.

Is it bad I sort of hope they get cancelled? Not just for the safety of everybody concerned but also so Team USA can definitely have 3 spots next year. I am a bad person.

LMAO I hadn't thought of that. Well, that's one more good reason on top of many, many others. XD

But it would suck so much for everyone who has qualified this year - Ryan Bradley's last chance at Worlds, I wouldn't think Ross Miner will have many other shots at qualifying either. Plus all the other non-US skaters, like I/K who were under loads of pressure at Euros to get the second Russian ice dance spot, and now might not be able to take it up, and V/T who won't have a eligible SB score to get GP assignments next season without competing at Worlds. Obviously safety is paramount, but cancelling the whole event will screw over so many competitors.

On another note, I assume WTT is going to be canceled too?

If Worlds are canceled, I suppose WTT will be canceled as well. They need Worlds' results for making the teams.

There is literally no possible risk of "another Chernobyl". This is stupid nuclear-fear-sensationalism at its worst and is panicking people needlessly. The developments at Fukushima Daiishi should not worry anyone.

You know, it can rather undercut your argument against sensationalism when you make such extreme statements yourself. There are many people who are very rightfully worried about the situation. Just because even a worst-case scenario wouldn't be on the scale of Chernobyl doesn't mean that it's not a serious concern.

I hope they won't cancel Worlds, if the area isn't safe enough right now, they could postpone the competition.

I don't see any problem in having WC in April, it's the last competition of the season (because WTT is more a kinda competition-exhibition, like Japan Open) of course skaters' off-season would be slightly shorter, but they have a lot of months for making new programs anyway.

And they could cancel or postpone WTT. If Japan Open is in October, why not the WTT?

Canadian Stars on Ice starts in April. I suppose they could do Worlds before CSOI starts, or Tessa and Scott would just miss a location or two?

Hoping it gets postponed..not cancelled.
