I absolutely agree with what you're saying, but I just need to tell you that (oh hai, ADD!), I initially misread that last sentence as "...death threats they're making against otherkin."
Have Akin's poll numbers bounced back or something? Is it time for establishment Republicans to start supporting him again, despite the shit that he said? Ohhhhhhh anything to get a Democrat out of office huh?

The firm released a poll last week that showed Mr. Akin with a 1-point lead, inciting harsh criticism from Republicans, who called it a deliberate attempt by the left-leaning firm to keep Mr. Akin in the race rather than a scandal-free, and presumably stronger, candidate.
Other polls say that her lead is bigger by nine or ten points - this one is disputed at only a 1 point lead. It's hard to say, but he's definitely not a sure bet to lose.

And hello - that wasn't a 'sex second' mistake. That's a fundamental 'mistake' in ideology and attitude, and his weak 'i'm sorry' doesn't fix that.
