Except for that whole inconvenient fact where Social Security is one of the few solvent programs we have?
Also, if you want more people to "pay their own way" - and I'm assuming you mean "pay more taxes" - perhaps we should go back to the 1950s tax rate on the obscenely wealthy, and pay people a living wage so they make enough to pay taxes.
