Also, if you want more people to "pay their own way" - and I'm assuming you mean "pay more taxes" - perhaps we should go back to the 1950s tax rate on the obscenely wealthy, and pay people a living wage so they make enough to pay taxes.

Why should rich people have to pay for everything? He already pays more than his fair share if he paid more into it than he is getting back. That just lets other people off the hook for paying nothing.
