Republican have always been focused on other people's sex lives rather than people themselves. Easier to think of them as less than human that way.

"The view of gay people ... it wasn't Ellen [DeGeneres]. It wasn't Neil Patrick Harris. It was kinky sex and women riding around on motorcycles without shirts on. That was sort of the view that the community projected as well."

But now that teh gheys are sufficiently ~safe~ things are different. Fuck off.

Are there some ass-more chaps around that I'm as of yet unaware? I mean, I thought chaps were, by default, assless, but I suppose it's used commonly enough colloquially. Of course, assless chaps are also crotchless ... Why am I on this tangent?

"I guess there are folks who can't understand that someone can be a lesbian and conservative and a Republican."

gee I can't imagine why.

I don't even know what to make of this. "I'm a lesbian, but I'm not like THOSE lesbians."

Well, yes, it's true that there are folks who can't understand that. Because some of us can't quite wrap our heads around how you would want to be part of and support a cause that thinks you're evil and subhuman. When your position doesn't make any sense, you really shouldn't be surprised when other people can't understand it.

That's what I got out of it. "I'm a lesbian, but I'm not some hippie slut"
Reminds me of women who are pro-life until they end up needing an abortion. They still think they're better then everyone, and their case is ~different~.

That is the exact same analogy I was thinking of.
