..."doing something else in air-conditioned rooms instead", why don't you grow a pair and change that to "instead of being sexually exploited by criminal syndicates" instead of using some fuckwitted allusion that ends up being more offensive?

Seriously. A+

Presumably they've seen this pattern happening. Do they then offer to help these women?

From what I have seen and heard, prostitutes are considered as part of the 'invisible ones' of society. There are NGOs who help these women (especially those that focus on HIV/AIDS) but the govt just raids and arrests. I've never heard of any govt programme helping them out.

To my disgust (especially as a medical student) sex workers are even given the poorest treatment in hospital settings as well.

I like that they care, but i wonder if they care only because it makes them look bad, or what, exactly?

And instead of saying 'no, you can't have any work', how about figure out a way to keep *anybody* from being sexually exploited? Meh.

Yup. And by extension to 2: "Pfft, she's an uggo, so why should I worry about her being sexually exploited? Never mind that women doing manual labor ARE routinely sexually assaulted! It defies my assumption that only hot women get targetted for rape!"
