If this shows her to be too young or beautiful for menial work, then we will likely reject the application

Wow. Way to go at this from COMPLETELY the wrong angle, but then again, these are men in control of the system so I really shouldn't be surprised anymore.

My biggest issue with this whole thing is that if they know that syndicates are bringing if women for prostitution, then they should go after the syndicates, not the women! If you limit the pretty/young women that apply for manual labour (and how do they know how many of them might be actually applying sincerely as opposed to getting into the country for sex trafficking?), these syndicates will just find another way of bringing in the ladies or use other ladies.

And how on earth are they going to judge the pretty-ness of a candidate? What may be pretty to one person may not be to another. And how would they know if the girls did not purposefully take photos of themselves purposefully looking bad?

I don't know, I just am really upset how this is limiting the ability of women to work in the pretence of cutting down prostitution. This seems more of a 'let's pretend we're doing something about this' statement than anything else.

I just can't manage to think any more clearly about this post than the concept that genetics doesn't give a flying fuck what your socioeconomic status is when it comes to making you pretty or not... I mean, I get what the object of their scrutiny is, and I should be more outraged about the trafficking, but I keep thinking about poor girls and women who need to work who are being rejected because somehow their being pretty means they're not allowed to work for a living.

Since, you know, if they get rejected for menial labor, where will they go as a last resort? How is this helping again?
