Is it weird to say that I can no longer watch him because he almost makes me cry? He moves me too much.

Not at all. He's driven me to tears on several occasions, especially the healthcare debate where he talked about his dad.

if this deal with the Republicans takes a dollar away from those people who do not have a dollar to spare while preserving the millions for those who have millions more, if this deal, sir, keeps intact funding the mechanisms we have for killing people while cutting the mechanisms we have for keeping people alive and healthy, then it is a betrayal of everything that makes this country great."

Sorry Keith, you're wrong. This attitude is a perfect mirror image of the Republican/Tea Party position. If you want to get out of this mess and move forward, it's time for everyone to suck it up and be prepared to do some things you really don't want to do.

FUCKING THIS.

I'm so sick of this "well lol everyone has to sacrifice something" mindset.

If he does this...i just can't imagine him being re-elected next year. If he doesn't have a backbone now, why should we believe he'll magically gain one during re-election? Of course he'll get the nomination and might be a lesser evil than a republican, but u never know

Social Security and Medicare cannot be on the table especially since the system pays for itself. Where the fuck has the money been going? Lol oh yeah a war that NO ONE EVER TRIES TO CUT FUNDING OF.

I honestly don't think there's going to be a deal one way or another. I've been saying for a while that Boehner can't control the Tea Party caucus, which means he can't control his caucus as a whole - and it doesn't look like he has the votes from his people to get an increase on the debt ceiling with tax hikes. He might not even have the votes to get it without tax hikes, because there are too many of them who are ideologically in favor of not taking on more debt no matter what.

I think you're really on to something here, and it scares me to death. If someone doesn't blink in the next week or so, this could get really bad in a hurry. Between the threats of financial meltdown, and the dangerous precedent that could be set by giving a President that much control over the budget and debt limit we could be in for some very anxious times.

Jesus Christ I hope the GOP blinks.

Jesus Christ I hope the GOP blinks.

I hope that, too. I have a lot of hopes. So many, in fact, that I've organized them by genre.

Soap Opera Hope: I hope they'd bash themselves in the head repeatedly until they pass out so they might wake up with amnesia and forget what evil fucking creatures they are.

Sci Fi Hope: I hope the Doctor comes to drag them off and sentence them to eternal torment a la The Family.

Harry Potter Hope: I hope they drink $350 dollar wine with Veritaserum in it and then go on TV and tell the nation what they're really all about.

Romance Novel Hope: Every one of them that's single falls for an adorable liberal and changes their wicked ways due to the healing power of True Love. Bonus if it ends up being M/M or F/F romance, because then their thinking on LGBT rights could be changed, too.

Horror Novel Hope: I hope that they become acquainted intimately with It.

Of course they will. They're only doing this to have a basis for talking about what they "tried to do for you but the Evil Socialists didn't let us, but we guarantee it would have caused Spontaneous Rainbow Orgasms Holy Raptures" to get fictitious action points in the next election. Nothing they do lately is worth anything more than a basis for PR and posturing- they aren't governing, they're dealing in hypotheticals.
