I kept expecting a statement out of News International saying "Rebekah Brooks was asleep/absent/in a cataleptic state while all of these things were happening and that's why, despite overall control of it in her positions as Editor of NotW/CEO of News International she knew absolutely nothing of what was going on" so this doesn't surprise me.

Sounds like they're throwing Andy Coulson under the bus, and while he is an odious little shite as far as I'm concerned I don't think the buck entirely stops with him. I think the rot goes through the entire org and I don't buy Rebekah Brooks having nothing to do with any of it, no matter how often News International/Murdoch deny it.

I find it laughable that they are so cavalier in their attempts to shift any any and all obvious culpability in a situation which implies systematic and widespread corruption on the part of the Media and the police, including hacking phones for journalistic and commercial gain, perverting the course of justice and interfering with police investigations.

wow, that's our future 'media tzar' or similarly stupid comfy position Cameron will give her if she goes down for this, you're bad-mouthing.

/Praying this explodes, Coulson gets involved again, this brings down Cameron, and Thatcher dies in the process. Not sure how the last one is related, but would be nice.

Oh no you don't. To paraphrase the instructors at the "Band of Brothers" actor bootcamp, poor leadership rolls downhill. This isn't just one vacation in Italy; this is years on end of letting a lot of corruption past in the name of getting the banner headlines.

Apparently the families of 7/7 victims also had their phones hacked. How these people sleep at night, I have no frickin idea.

I don't believe for a second that she had no idea what was happening, or that she played no part in it.
