while Dr. Wise experiences flashbacks to the dissolution of her marriage which fell apart when she learned she couldn't bear children. Her parents cursed her for not taking better care of her body, a poor diet, too much work, while her husband - The Karate Kid's bad sensei Martin Kove - divorces her, leaving her for a woman capable of having his children, a moment that pushes Dr. Wise to desperate measures.
That husband sounds like a fucking tool. I mean, hell, it's not like adoption exists! Or, if it has to be the fruit of his precious seed, not like surrogate mothers exist.
Like I said in another comment, this tells us a lot more about the guy who wrote it than he THINKS it does, namely that he sees a woman's only worth to be in her ability to produce a child and that the only reason to marry a woman is for her childbearing potential. Love? Pfft.
