On BigGovernment.com, known serial liar and corporate hack Andrew Breitbart and friends have cooked up another Shirley Sherrod style attack on a Democrat, this time NY House Rep Anthony Weiner.
People have pointed out that Weiner followed/friendly-DMed a lot of young women (and a porn star), which is kind of amusing, but not evidence of wrongdoing. I mean, Keith Olbermann follows a lot of comely young fans as well. Think it's just a "lol, men" thing.
But I don't buy the "it wasn't on his Twitter" thing. Haven't other people reported seeing it there as well?
And... Politico is now reporting that Weiner has hired a lawyer... interesting.
I feel really bad for the woman who was sent the picture. All this because she had the audacity to follow a politician and jokingly call him her boyfriend. Jeez. Pretty sure there are a lot of folks it could have happened to.
I love Anthony Weiner more than life, he's my fave Congressman ---- BUT...
I think that if it was a fake, he would have gone on a total media blitz talking epic shit about Breitbart and right wing news media in general. It's kind of not like him to sit back and let things unfold without getting aggressively involved, ya know?
but I hope hope hope it's not true. I'll be heartbroken. But also kind of happy because it means I have a shot at having an illicit internet relationship with him. I'm talking devastated.
Not if he doesn't want it to take precident over the way congress is behaving and certain bills up for vote.
The article in which says he getting lawyer he proclaims that he believes it to be a prank and that he has more important things to do than sue them but that he was seeking legal advice since it basically turned into a 'scandal'.
It's like one of us threatening to sue for this shit happening in a hacked twitter account. It's just internet bullshit. Except he's a congressman and certain rightwing nuts have run with it to make a Monica Lewinsky type of issue.
“It happens to people,” Rep. Weiner asserted, “You move on.” While he did not elaborate any further on his comments, he did echo the sentiments he and his spokesman gave to the Daily Caller earlier today. He once again called it a “distraction” and “a prank, not a terribly creative one.”
We've retained counsel to explore the proper next steps and to advise us on what civil or criminal actions should be taken," Weiner spokesman Dave Arnold said in an email to The Daily Caller. "This was a prank. We are loath to treat it as more, but we are relying on professional advice."
The writer's claiming that Weiner's account was hacked and the pic was sent out from it, and then parts of the yfrog screencap look faked because they can tell from some of the pixels and by having seen quite a few shops in their time.

A diary on Daily Kos said the "image analysis" doesn't prove anything.
