I love Anthony Weiner more than life, he's my fave Congressman ---- BUT...

I think that if it was a fake, he would have gone on a total media blitz talking epic shit about Breitbart and right wing news media in general. It's kind of not like him to sit back and let things unfold without getting aggressively involved, ya know?

but I hope hope hope it's not true. I'll be heartbroken. But also kind of happy because it means I have a shot at having an illicit internet relationship with him. I'm talking devastated.

Not if he doesn't want it to take precident over the way congress is behaving and certain bills up for vote.

The article in which says he getting lawyer he proclaims that he believes it to be a prank and that he has more important things to do than sue them but that he was seeking legal advice since it basically turned into a 'scandal'.

It's like one of us threatening to sue for this shit happening in a hacked twitter account. It's just internet bullshit. Except he's a congressman and certain rightwing nuts have run with it to make a Monica Lewinsky type of issue.

The link. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnn-first-to-track-down-rep-anthony-weiner-for-tv-comment-on-twitter-scandal/

“It happens to people,” Rep. Weiner asserted, “You move on.” While he did not elaborate any further on his comments, he did echo the sentiments he and his spokesman gave to the Daily Caller earlier today. He once again called it a “distraction” and “a prank, not a terribly creative one.”

This is the one I was thinking of, http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/05/rep_weiner_retaining_counsel_in_lewd_twitter_photo_hack.php:

We've retained counsel to explore the proper next steps and to advise us on what civil or criminal actions should be taken," Weiner spokesman Dave Arnold said in an email to The Daily Caller. "This was a prank. We are loath to treat it as more, but we are relying on professional advice."

Would you sue?

I had a hijacked Hotmail & Twitter...I just changed my passwords and sent out notices I was hacked and checked to see if the bastards still had access.

@Schmiss got hit from my twitter with one of those virus links. I'm still not sure how they got access.

Do you remember, in TWW, when some asshole wrote a book and Sam wanted everyone TO SMASH KILL DISCREDIT? And it came down to "naah, why give it oxygen? We know it's lies"

I don't think so.....first rule of PR is when there's a non-story out there (meaning untrue), you don't give it any more fuel than necessary. Besides which, I have a feeling this is more a case of Brietbart being an ass by piggy-backing on whoever hacked Weiner's account.
