Sarah Palin is an idiot.

But a "Death Panel" refers to a set of individuals (or an algorithm) that determines if it is "worthwhile" to provide someone individual care based on cost-analysis, rather then need or ability.

This is just a destruction of service. It doesnt even make room for alternate care and competition to enter the market.

Are they going to end Medicare too? It's about as much of a socialized medicine program as you can get.

I guess old folks vote and poor folks don't.

Medicare is also a budgetary and orgazational disaster. Its a really _really_ poor system. And we can do a lot better with a decentralized option.

Certainly. But objecting to it because it's 'socialist', not because it's inefficient, is a little hypocritical when Medicare is a sacred cow.

If someone who claims they are a fiscal conservative is not for both defense and medicare spending cuts, then they are a liar and a fraud...

...which is really what this legislation seems to mirror.

If this doesnt come alongside serious deregulation to make it easier to open a health care facility.. then this is a dangerously bad idea.

But if they have something in there that says, say, a nurse can open a neighborhood health care facility, then its possible to still have affordable health care. (this is just a single example, mind you. you need a LOT more options)

As it is, whatever the INTENT may-be doesnt really matter. What matters is the realworld effects of this. And frankly, this doesnt look well thought out.

FUCK YEAH MY STATE RULES

Reading the opinion page in the Boise paper is so depressing with all the people who eat this nullification shit up, and we're supposedly the liberal part of the state.

As a state lab employee, this shit scares me. Medicaid pays for a lot of our clinical lab section's services.
