Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much.

“They don’t have enough staff or enough balls or don’t have enough money or don’t have enough interest to spend the time it takes to expose Fox News. Or it’s not worth the trouble. If you take on Fox, they’ll kick you in the ass,” says the source. “I’m sure most [journalists] know that. It’s not worth being Swift Boated for your effort,” a reference to how Fox News traditionally attacks journalists who write, or are perceived to have written, anything negative things about the channel.

A big part of the problem is that too many Americans love what Fox News dishes up, and this is perhaps their greatest armor.

Anderson Cooper should just take all of his Vanderbilt money and kick Fox News in the ass.

Or Keith Olbermann can use his new position at Current TV to expose them for the creators of political fanfic that they are.

People who watch Faux news may be surprised, However, people who don't watch Faux have known this for ages.
Question - is there any sort of regulation about what can or cannot be called news? like, if Faux really is just making itself up,and its public knowledge, can they even call themselves a news channel?

I think there's some technicality where, like, 85% of their programming is actually classified as "entertainment" rather than news. I wish I remembered where I read that, though.

I don't believe there is a regulation on what can be called news. We used to have the Fairness Doctrine; it was abolished by Reagan, if I recall correctly.

There was some noise about it being brought back earlier this year, but no one in government wants it, for some damn reason; oddly enough, it was said the Dems didn't want it back, which made no sense to me.

I think people need to start talking LOUDLY about yellow journalism again. Maybe that would get our older citizens who watch so much of Faux to start opening their eyes. I'm not holding my breath, though.
