“It is disrespectful for Speaker Boehner to skip joining the President’s and bipartisan congressional delegation to the Tucson Memorial so he could host a Washington D.C. cocktail party for RNC members,” said a Democratic leadership aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

I get the fact that Boehner had this planned for a while, but he couldn't have postponed it for like one day??? I'm sure he has enough money/clout/whatever to convince wherever the event was being held to do so.

Giffords had to put off her next fundraiser for a little bit more than one day, you prick.

Oh, hells yes, you go, etc. I drove by Gifford's office yesterday while I was shopping, and you could see everyone stopped at the light looking over at the flowers and the people and trying not to cry, me among them. Fuck Boehner and his party if he can't miss a fund raiser to show respect over an attempted assassination and a bloody massacre.

I'm not going to fault him on this. I'm sure that this was a pre-arranged committment that he wasn't obligated to cancel.

Now if he had missed the Memorial Service to raise $ I'd feel differently. But he was there, and he spoke without any partisan wank (yeah, color me surprised).

Edited because I thought he had attended. Yeah, in this case he probably should have cancelled the fundraiser and attended. His words about the tragedy were without partisan wank and you can still color me surprised.

Now Sarah Palin on the other hand.....

Plus, if McCain or Brewer had been the victim and Pelosi had done this, you wouldn't be able to think for the howls of outrage and offense coming from him and his lot.

I can understand not wanting to postpone/cancel an event, but it just *looks* good to go to this, Boehner.

Exactly! This is my response. Surely people would have understood. And if they didn't... well, that's telling, isn't it?
