"You have every reason to be proud."

My only issue is, he doesn't direct kids to any actual resources, severely limiting the usefulness of this video. Overall, though, he has a good message.

Meh, there are like hundreds of these at this point. Depending on the intent of the maker, it could just be a reassuring "hey, we are the head of government, and we value you" sort of thing, while others are meant to direct kids to resources.

This is very true.

It's just my personal pet peeve about a lot of these that they won't actually stop a suicide if all they're doing is giving a nice 3-minute message that leaves kids in exactly the same place they were before. Give them something they can do, somewhere they can go, or at the very least tell them what you're doing to help and protect them... or it rings just a bit hollow.

I could see that. When I was at a stage in life where these videos would have been at all relevant to me, it was the latter 90s and I had no computer, and they weren't making these messages, so I don't know for sure what would have been best for me. I like to think these videos are seen in sort of a cumulative sense, in that *hopefully* non-heterosexual kids see many of these, and some will have the resources link, while others just hope to offer some inspiration. But you are correct, flashing the Trevor Hotline phone number at the end, or something along those lines, would have been good.

These 'it gets better' videos are great and all, but it won't get better as long as people like Joe Biden don't make it. Our Prime Minister just did a similar video and it's like, I love the sentiment, I really do, I love that these people who are looked up to are giving these kids that encouragement. But prove it.

Yeah, ia.

Although as VP, I question how much power he himself actually has to make any change.

He may not, but Obama does. Promising to veto any bill relating to military funding until DADT is repealed would be a good start.

'Kay.

Again, I fail to see how Biden could actually accomplish convincing Obama of this.

Of all the political contributions to this project, his seemed the most heartfelt. I actually got a bit choked up watching this.

Out of Obama's, Clinton's, and Biden's, Biden's is by far my favorite.

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent".

That applies to gay and lesbian kids, just as it applies to airline passengers.

LMFAO okay then.

Sorry, your analogy just... came out of nowhere.

I know, I know... odd comparison.

I like ol' Joe, but I'm not happy with government double-speak - from anyone. He gives a heart warming speech to kids here. That's good. But he's still in favor of them being randomly pornscanned and groped "for their protection".

For me, this does not compute.

Why bring that issue up in this thread?

I wish this administration were better about a lot of things (I know they've done a lot for fed employees, but feds aren't a major portion of the population). But I liked this video a lot more than I liked Obama's or Clinton's. I think because he straight up called bullies "losers," and also because, even though he talked about being bullied for his stuttering, he kept circling back to LGBTQ kids through the video instead of making it a general anti-bullying video.
