I've discussed these commericals with my big sister, and we both came to the conclusion that these commercials are only tolerable because Isaiah Mustafa et al. are taking this all so tongue-in-cheek, after so many completely unsatirical ads reinforcing MANLINESS~ and the reclaiming thereof. I don't want a guy in my life, tickets to that thing I like or no (okay, I'd so go see European musicals with Isaiah Mustafa) and I don't even subscribe to the whole male/female binary (though commercials with the genderqueer person your genderqueer lover could smell like would be epic) but I do enjoy these ads.

I adore your Julie Andrews icons and gifs? Could you make some Victor/Victoria ones?

Oh, you know the Sound of Music/Julie Andres icons werent made by me! I get them all from watching The Sound of Music Icon Comm, haha.

If you go to my user pics page I credit all the makers; there's a chance that they make a variety of Julie Andrews-themed icons; give it a shot, you never know.

But if I do get my hands on Victor/Victoria I would try my hand at icons, for sure. :D I just dont own it, yet. :/

Bruce Campbell, NPH, and now Isaiah Mustafa have made me wish so, so hard that Old Spice wasn't owned by Proctor & Gamble... (animal testing) Because if they weren't I think I would wear nothing but.

All these commercials have kind of made me ask myself lots of questions about essentialism/stereotyping... and like others have said, I think I'm okay with it because they're so tongue-in-cheek/over-the-top...
But still, these commercials make me feel like I'm _possibly_ a bad feminist -_-;
