I understand having a problem with what's behind it but I imagine many of these women actually believe in wearing this gear. I don't think getting rid of an item of clothing with do anything helpful. Challenging the beliefs behind it is scarier and probably more controversial but at least that may actually be able to achieve something. Banning clothing is just retarded, whatever that clothing may be and whatever reason for wearing it may be.

pretty much. they say they don't want to "stigmatize" anyone, but how is telling women that they can't wear their veils in public not stigmatizing them?
