The Food Network vs. Mike Huckabee on Gay Adoption

Apr 18, 2010 18:07

Last week Mike Huckabee told some students at the College of New Jersey that same-sex marriage was just like incest and polygamy, and that gays and lesbians should be banned from adopting children. Let 'em have puppies, Huckabee argued, but not kids.
How to respond? Well, you could create a Facebook group (Puppies Against Huckabee!). You could ( Read more... )

Steve McDonagh and Dan Smith, two Food Network hosts

What's funny is how, when Dan and Steve were competing in that first season of Next Food Network Star, the two of them were mildly flirty with each other (though, we never saw them kiss, IIRC) and were open about their status as a couple... but once they got their own show they were extremely stilted/cold/overly platonic on-camera. They might as well have been two random co-hosts put together for the sake of a cooking show.

Contrast that to Paula Deen, who makes every effort to make out with her clockmaker of a husband on her show (or even just with random men in the audience on her live cooking shows), or Down Home with the Neelys, where the initial promos for their show was all about the Neelys as a COUPLE and the commercials were filled with gross double entendres about ~juicy~ and ~hot~ cooking.

Oh god the Neelys DDD:

I tried to watch that show, but instead wound up back watching my beloved PBS cooking programs.

Hahaha, there still are/were some good shows on Food Network but most of them are either old shows (Giada's early seasons, Molto Mario, Michael Chiarello), produced overseas (Nigella's earlier stuff), or just never on at any hour besides like 2 AM or something, lmao.

I just can't ever get over how the Neelys try to make even boiling a pot of water ~dirrrrrty~. If Dan and Steve had tried to do even a fraction of that there'd've been a riot.

LOL I reserve this gif for when I'm raging a lot. It helps bring down the rage to tolerable levels.

I love these guys. I eat at their place pretty often and am friendly with Stephen. They are the nicest guys ever and I saw them with their son at Baconfest the other week here in Chicago and they are so cute with him. Fuck Mike Huckabee, man.
