I think this program is stupid anyway. It only helps the rich and calling gas-guzzlers clunkers is super fucking misleading.

Umm...a lot of non-rich people have older gas-guzzling cars. You don't have to make mad cash to have a 15-year-old Chevy truck in your driveway. So I don't get why you think this only helps rich people. From what I understand, low mpg is not the only qualifier - the cars that are being traded in under this program also have to be pretty old.

Because you have to buy a new car with the program.

If you have a 15 year old truck that is gas guzzling because you can't even afford a used car, you can't afford to take part in the program. Hence why it only helps richer people.

ALSO gas guzzling DOES NOT EQUAL CLUNKER in more peoples vocabulary. The car can't be older than a 80 something, and for it to qualify it HAS to be a gas guzzler. So a newer car that works perfectly fine but only gets 18mpg is considered a clunker in this program.

A lot of the foreign cars though are made in factories here and you do help American car makers and factories and states/towns/dealers in the process. It is a good program even if not perfect, imo.

Exactly, around this part of Ohio we will not complain if they are buying Hondas. It directly impacts our economy in a positive way.
