Hasn't there also been a study or two showing that most of the people taking advantage of this government giveaway of money are wealthier or at least middle class folks?

Anyone know what I am talking about? Have a link...? =)

Cue people not being aware that even foreign cars are generally assembled on American soil by Americans who need jobs.

As far as I'm concerned, it's still up to American automakers to earn our business by stepping up their game and not producing crap, not just by virtue of being American. They already got our tax dollars for that.

Yep. If they want to sell American cars they are going to have to offer really fricken great warranties and engineer cars that don't fall apart so easily (and it will take them YEARS to build a reputation if they do start building better cars). People buy more Toyotas and HOndas stuff because they don't break down as often.

American cars are chock full of foreign parts anyway.

San Antonio, Texas loves you all for buying Toyotas...not that we are in as big a ditch as Detroit but they thank you anyways.

A lot of people forget that the 4 foreign companies are only called that because the headquarters is in a foreign nation...the parts are made here, the cars are made here, the employees are mostly Americans (hell I remember when I living in SA and they were asking us in our Japanese class to try out for a job to be a translator), the dealers are American, and they will ALL spend their money in AMERICA!!!

seriously...people bitching about Obama drinking a bud because it's now a foreign company? We can buy it out again...maybe. Still it's an AMERICAN DRINK!

...apologies for bitching.

Re: Bud. It absolutely is an American drink. If the Czechs tasted what had become of their namesake I think they would sue everyone. :P

I'm pissed...we got a Chevy Aveo last year but kept our Jeep. But we can't trade the Jeep in now because I flipped it over into a ditch this winter and it's still not fixed :(

Aren't they going to scrap the clunkers anyway? You should be able to trade it, dangit.
