Tomorrow is Protest Day!
Here is a brief of what we know, confirmations that torture of the prisoners has intensified, hot water being poured on them, refusal of sleep, solitary confinement and sexual harassment and rape of both male and female prisoners. Prosecution procedures have are in the works to start and high profile political prisoners are being refused contact with family and medical attention. Tomorrow, Thursday the 9th is known as 18 of Tir (Persian calendar) and it is the ten year anniversary of a student led revolt. There are plans for demostrations, protests and perhaps a repeat of what happened on Saturday the 20th. Worldwide protests are being planned as well. And for those of you, like me, who can't make it to one, there is details on how to stage one FB against Joe Biden (I think his comments about Israel and Iran really really pissed some people off. I think there are going to be THOUSANDS of videos posted on his FB.

1.A new look at the sandstorm…three weeks after Ahmedi calls the protesters they get sent a giant sandstorm that is looking to be considered the worst since the revolution. Another is that because of the messy and measly electrical system they have (and a very genuine reason why they seek nuclear power when they sit on a goldmine of oil) the opposition set out to have power get disrupted during Ahmedi's speech by running every damn electrical device they could get simulatenousely. There are reports that this worked and shows how good the word of mouth system is in Iran. The sand storm probably help facilitate this.
Roe Lassie: As for the sandstorms. I find it totally amazing that 3 weeks after Amamadmad describes the protesters as dirt that God sends a sandstorm - the worst in living memory. The symbolism of this is amazing.
If this is not something for the regime to be worried about then I don't know what is! For me it's a very clear message that God has heard the prayer of the Iranians and He has just sent a very strong message to the evil tyrants. Their days are coming to an end.
Keep going dear brave people - I'm sure that your victory is close - perhaps even closer than any of us imagine!
2.Thoughts on Ahemdi asking for a U.N. audience. We might actually get his ass to visit. One of the conditions of housing the U.N. is that we are not allowed to bar anyone from getting a visa to speak to the U.N. Many of the people comment on different ways to make Ahmedi's visit miserable. How many of you think a mass protest will take place? I wonder if this can actually help the Iranian's cause. Just because we have to grant him passage and our President listen to him…doesn't mean we can't make it known how we feel about it, nor that our President will agree with him.

Back to the point, though, it's going to be a dark day in DC if that idiot decides to touch down and try to 'talk' to the President here. I can't believe that he'll think he'd get a warm reception here; if he comes this summer it's going to be the coldest day in DC ever in terms of political response.
The only logical response I can think to do if he would come down here (short of crying havoc and letting slip the cats of war, thus releasing a horde of kittens into DC) is letting every institution know that any place that chooses to host him won't be getting any patronage from us and any politico who tries to make nice has just lost votes.
I know it seems unlikely to some but politicians... they might bluster now but I honestly question how many of them truly give a shit. I wouldn't put it past the politicos to welcome his presence here.

Their thoughts on the report of Iranian Jews supporting Ahmedi One person's story of a Mashad Jew he knew is…disturbing. It sounds like the poor guy was tortured into insanity. The 'minders' part of the story does make me think there is pressure on these people by the Iranian Government. They control the military and the militia forces. The closings, which the government said would continue Wednesday - and which opposition supporters expected to continue Thursday as well - were precautions because of heavy pollution and dust storms, the news agency ILNA reported.
The opposition Web site Tabnak reported that the storms were worse in the southern cities of Ahwaz and Abadan, which have not been shut down.
Two leading journalists were arrested this week, bringing the number of imprisoned journalists to 30, the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists said.
The total moved Iran ahead of China as “the world’s worst jailer of journalists,” the organization said, noting that 24 of the 30 had been jailed since the election.
