First, Caroline Kennedy isn't running for Vice President. Second, she hasn't been thrust on America out of nowhere. Americans have known her since she was born. There are more differences here than just her class.

As for Caroline Kennedy not getting bad press, you know, it might have something to do with the fact that she's actually qualified for a position like that. Unlike the joke that was nominating Palin for VP.

Um. Sarah Palin has a BA. Now granted, she's a governor, and of course that experience counts for something.

However.

Caroline Kennedy has a law degree. She serves on three boards and is a member of two bar associations. She's president of her father's library foundation and an adviser to the Harvard Institute of Politics. She may not have held public office yet, but personally I like her resume a lot more than I like Palin's.

If you think Kennedy hasn't been subject to scrutiny from the press, you must be illiterate. It's been on the front page of the NYT since she first expressed interest in the seat. They compared her to Palin in the lede of a story, ffs. Not exactly a free pass.
