Santos won TX only because he was a congressman from TX, though. And Vinnick won CA because he was one of the two US Senators from CA. Interesting how in the current political climate, there's no way that would happen.

I saw the convention episode last Friday on tv (yay taking time off, haha) and I was struck by this very comparison. Great read!

I never really thought of it, but that is funny. If only we had spent the last 8 years under a president like Bartlett, I bet we would be in a totally different situation right now.

We did have 8 years of Clinton... which, unfortunately, was not followed by Gore. It should have been, though, had it not been for the FL clusterf*ck. (No offense to Floridians out there!)
