Bernie Sanders backers say Democrats are ‘in absolute crisis and denial’

May 22, 2017 12:46

RoseAnn DeMoro, the outspoken leader of the California Nurses Association, looked out at a horde of red-clad supporters as they prepared to march on the state Democratic Party’s convention Friday to advocate for public-funded universal health care.

“They are a party in absolute crisis and denial,” DeMoro said of the resistance her group, which ( Read more... )

YEAH, I was at the convention. What a fucking shit show. Kimberly Ellis was robbed. Straight fucking robbed. Goddamn, I cannot wait to change the rules of this fucking party so PLEO's stop strangling our progress with their bullshit.

RoseAnn was amazing. She killed it. The nurses union is going to change this country one pathetic, sold-out-and-bought-out elected official at a time. They are heroes in every sense of the word. The progressive movement would be NOTHING without them

Ellis lost the vote. She wasn't robbed, she lost. But just like Sanders, she couldn't take her loss, because to these idiots, if people don't vote for them, then something must be conspiring against them.

They never consider that maybe, just maybe, the majority of democrats don't want to vote for assholes who keep wanting to destroy the democratic party.

OMG COOL!!!!.... I didn't think I would run into another state delegate but I'm super stoked to hear someone else was there--- so, what you're saying is that it doesn't bother you that elected officials and central committees get to appoint a majority of the delegates and stack the deck? Like, it doesn't bother you whatsoever that several elected officials get to appoint 30 people to do their bidding? It doesn't bother you at all how some delegates were being openly upset that their appointee wouldn't release their votes so they could vote how they wanted? It doesn't bother you at all that 68 (Ellis lost by 62) credentialed delegates abstained from casting a vote for chair at all? Like, this is all on the up and up to you? Voter intimidation, stacking the deck with super delegates, going against the democratically elected ADEMs who are the base of the party? Does it bother you that the cycle of structural power is also unbreakable because the committees are all appointed by officers who are elected by delegates who are mostly ( ... )

I wasn't there, and I'm not an expert on this by any means.

But well said.

"The truth of the matter is we’ve got to find a way to absolutely unify us and set us on the right path.”

I agree with this. Especially the "unify" part. Being divided into warring camps (a la 2016) is no way to win a fucking election!

It's things like these that make me want to see Sanders' backers fuck off and go to hell.

They're so busy attacking democrats, that they let Trump get away with everything, but then they don't give a fuck about the harm Trump is causing.

Sometimes I wish Clinton's backers would fuck off and go to hell. They're so busy attacking Trump, that they let the DNC get away with everything, but then they don't give a fuck about the harm their own party is causing.

this is a guy who can vote for a chair. this is a guy who's been a super delegate since 2008 and he can't be bothered with phone calls.

You really think this is helpful? Seriously? #rhetoricalquestion

Yes, it's helpful in terms of knowing what the democrats should be doing and not doing. I truly believe that democratic politicians are "in absolute crisis and denial", they need to know the hard reality of what they've done, and what they're doing now clearly isn't working (obviously not speaking for all democratic politicians ( ... )

I think this is why I can't fuck with the progressive movement either. They're yelling about losing and not being able to convince people with their message while Paul Ryan, that Mulvaney prick and the rest of the people Trump lets run the country wants some of us literally dead. But hey, whatever. I'm resolved that all sides of the party are going to fuck shit up because of their petty fighting.
