I have nothing useful to say. You'd think what's happened in Turkey, what is still happening there, would be a wake up call. But I think it may be too late to wake anyone up.

I'm afraid that this is a sign of what's to come for the US. Turkey was relatively liberal for the middle east until a few years ago and now everyone's just accepted that this is how Turkey is now. What are people going to do when Trump gets rid of term limits and declares anyone who speaks out against him subversive, etc.? It sounds like a paranoid thing to say but he got elected even with all the horrific things he's said and done, so he's obviously able to get away with a lot. What does he have to do for society to finally get sick of his shit? How far do people like this have to go before anyone stops them?
