On one hand I'm thrilled but on the other I'm worried Hillary voters will get complacent and not vote tomorrow. It feels a bit anticlamtic to cone a day early.

Yes, and I wonder if it would make certain supporters (of either individual) more enthusiastic.

That sucks because everyone should feel like their vote should count the matter who they're voting for. I hope at this this will finally be the straw that breaks the camel's back and make California legislature move up our primary. In fact I like that idea of having rotating primaries.

Knew it was coming but...

negl. The AP "declaring it" when states haven't even voted is... kind of creepy.

Really creepy.

Like it's easy to forget just how huge media conglomerates are. There aren't many left and even print media is getting co-opted and cannibalized into large corporations that control most news we receive through normal channels.

So when votes haven't been cast, nothing has changed overnight (that I know of at least), outside of some very good datamining I'm not sure how the press corps can get this math and collectively release it so quickly?

I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist but boy. It makes me raise my eyebrow.

Probably.

Like.... idk. Clinton getting the nom IS an eventuality. It really is.

That the AP is declaring it on behalf of her after weeks of "CALIFORNIA MATTERS!" reeks of Kingmaking by big money. (that's not a criticism directed at her personally, mind)

Congrats to her, hopefully she keeps up her dress down of Donald Trump, and she won't make too much of a pivot for the GE. She still has a lot stacked against her but I'm sure she'll overcome it.

Supposedly it came out that Obama had called Sanders wthin the last day or two.

It may be the DNC getting their ducks in a row more so than the Clinton campaign.

But yeah. This feels really disingenuous wrt the states that still get to vote. and were told their voting was important. I bet a lot of people will end up sitting out tomorrow.

Which is really depressing. You should never have to feel like your vote isn't important.

As a Californian, I have always felt that my vote is unimportant. I'm just glad that for once there is an active Democratic primary for which I can vote (that hasn't been the case in my "voting lifetime").

I don't really think anyone believes Trump is "the sole issue with US politics" at all. Okay, maybe somebody, somewhere, believes that, but not most voters, and certainly not most of the folks here. Once the two major parties have each made their choice, though, the differences between those two choices will be the focus of the campaign, because that's that's what people will base their votes on. Each side will be going, "You should vote for me instead of that other person, and here's why." It's just how these things tend to work.
