man who murdered fellow theatergoer over texting....was ALSO texting

Curtis Reeves’s son was late. So, at 1:04 p.m. on Jan. 13, Mr. Reeves, a retired police officer, sent his son a text, telling him that he and his wife had gone into the movie theater and were seated.

Not so unusual - except that, just minutes later, Reeves shot to death another theatergoer when the man refused to stop texting during the movie

Reeves's attorneys have said that he acted in self-defense and cite Florida’s “stand-your-ground” law, which nulls a person’s obligation to retreat if they feel that they are in danger.

yeah, that texting was definitely putting his life in danger.

i hate this law.

I went to see Coriolanus the other night - the National Theatre version that's being streamed in cinemas.

Some frenetically annoying girls in my row were on their phones throughout, so at the end... I told them to put their damn phones away next time and not to be so rude.

I did not, you know, shoot them.

The shooter may or may not have mental heath problems, which may or may not have contributed to the shooting. He also might just be a violent asshole.
