As the eldest, I'm pretty sure my siblings aren't actually human. ;)
On a serious note, yes. Whatever issues we have, I fully support their rights to love who they choose, live as they want, and spend their lives pursuing happiness. I can, and they should be able to.
This is so fucking gross because if you show up to your sister home & act happy for her then turn around & run for a public office & denounce the life your sister is living screw you! Then she has the nerve to be hurt that her sister went publicly with this no Liz you made this fight public & shame on you!
IDGI The story used "wife" because they're married. I sometimes use "partner" (which is not reserved for same-sex couples in Canada as far as I can tell) but also enjoy using "wife" because 1. it's correct and 2. it stuns many people for a second. Judging by reactions, using wife is the more radical choice.
I don't think the problem is with the term "wife" but the fact that the writer "had to" clarify that this woman who has a wife is a lesbian. That's redundant. Yeah, the writer is thinking about their target audience, so there is some sense in the redundancy. But it's redundancy nonetheless. Too bad the target audience "needs" this clarification though, because most readers who care about the issue don't need this clarified at all - here we are right?
Reminded by a reporter that such criticism could complicate her sister’s Senate campaign
Really? How dare she not think of her sister's political future, even though her sister doesn't acknowledge her right to a fulfilled private life... Also, I suspect that Liz Cheney is probably trying to attract voters who would be totally fine with voting for someone who disowns a sister for being gay.

Good for Mary and her wife on bringing this to light.

Thank you for your redundancy.
Just when I thought the days of labeling someone a "gay lover" were done ... sigh.
Oh, and I'm not here for this article subtly pinning all the hub-bubb on "the angry lesbian" trope.
