Lmao yassssssssss. I've been too busy to keep up with TDS/TCR this week, but I can't wait to go back and watch this interview.

I feel like this also needs the racism tag.

Also you really have to wonder who keeps giving the ok for these GOP asshats to be interviewed by TDS. Do they really think it's going to go well???

I am constantly amazed by the interviews TDS gets. It isn't like TDS is some tiny little no-name show. All of its correspondents are pretty famous and easily recognized. How does someone go on the show and not be fully aware they're going to be mocked six ways to Sunday?

I really want to know the answer to that, too.

I asked the same question here months ago, because it was driving me nuts. At one point I thought the interviews must be fake or staged, because I cannot fathom why most of the interviewees would agree to go on TDS.

We all know it's trie but it was insane to see it put out there.

Rachel Maddow featured this as well. The clip from her show includes some other lovely gems from The Daily Show.

Eeyup - Rachel is how I heard about this. And then I was really tickled because she brought up Senator John Edwards (our John Edwards, not national John Edwards) because my sister met him at a Commerce dinner. He was all like "Hello I am John Edwards." and she was like "Oh, like the Senator!" and he was like "Yep that's me!" and she was like "oshit."

And seriously. I always think I can't dislike Cuccinelli any less and then I do.

!!!!!

So that's a thing that a real person said. As an officer in the GOP.

But they're sooo not racist! They don't care what color people are! Who cares if you're black, white, or purple tbh!

If it had been written as satire, there would have been criticism about it being too far over the top.

Yeah, I saw that when I first glanced at the article and it's still seared into my retinae.

The worst part was that after Aasif Mandvi said "But you're not racist." there was this looooooong pause from the guy and then he says "Well, I've been called a bigot" and then says all these terrible things

as someone who lives in the county where this douche served, i'm a little disappointed that the daily show didn't air any of the other interviews they filmed with local democrats, but i am totally happy this guy is out of a job. i remember reading something in the paper last week about the interview where yelton said something about how they cut it to make it worse than it was, so i was anticipating something bad when i watched it but holy shit. i mean there's pretty much no way they could've not fired him after that, wow.

From Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/24/daily-show-gop-spokesman-voter-id-laws-racist_n_4158125.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

Aasif Mandvi sat down with Don Yelton, a North Carolinian precinct captain who apparently missed the "don't be racist" memo. In the interview, he copped to loving portrayals of President Obama as a witch doctor, claimed that one of his best friends is black, and even used both the phrase "lazy blacks" and the N-word while defending the state's voter ID laws.
