I fucking love Nando's. I was so sad to leave the UK and go back to the part of the States where Nando's was nonexistent. Same thing with Pret.

I had a cabbie who was telling me about Pret not paying their taxes once who was confused when I asked if Pret was a British business because he'd always thought they'd come over from the States. He was shocked that we only have them in big cities.

But I walked into a Target downtown recently and there was a Pret instead of a Starbucks; I was so surprised I nearly tripped. There are only eight around here but it seems like they're always opening more now.

Though not as high profile, there's a cafe in Seattle called Lost Lake, who yesterday offered 15% off to federal employees. They also stipulated that politicians need not apply. You should check them out if you're near the Capitol Hill area in Seattle (http://lostlakecafe.com/).
